Abstract
A high brightness green-emitting phosphor is described. The phosphor has the general formula: (Y(1-x-y-z)GdxTbyLaz)BO3 where 0.01≦x≦0.4, 0.01≦y≦0.1, and 0<z≦0.2. The phosphor exhibits an enhanced brightness under VUV excitation which is desirable for plasma display panels.

- where
- 0.01≦x≦0.4,
- 0.01≦y≦0.1, and
- 0<z≦0.2.
