Abstract
A composition of an antioxidant of the formula where R3 is an alkyl group of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, and a dispersant or a detergent, is a useful additive package for lubricant compositions.
Claims9
A process for preparing a hindered, ester-substituted phenol, comprising the steps of:
- (a) heating a 2,6-dialkylphenol with an acrylate ester under base catalysis conditions;
- (b) thereafter adding magnesium silicate absorbent to the reaction mixture;
- and
- (c) filtering the resulting mixture.
