Abstract
A composition when used as an analgesic comprising a metabolite of a compound of Formula II wherein R1 is H or Me, R2 is OH, R3 is H; or R2 and R3, taken together, are O; R4 is H or Me, R5 and R6, taken together, are O; R7 is H or Me, R8=H, OH, OAc, SH, SAc, Cl, Br, F together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent.
Claims29
A method of inducing analgesia in a patient in need thereof, comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compounds of Formula II:
- wherein
- R1 is H or Me;
- R2 is OH;
- R3 is H;
- or R2 and R3 taken together are O;
- R4 is H or Me;
- R5 and R6 together are O;
- R7 is H or Me;
- and
- R8 is selected from the group consisting of OH, OAc, SH, SAc, Cl, Br and F;
- or prodrugs or metabolites thereof;
- together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent;
- said compounds providing analgesia without overt sedation and without producing anesthesia when orally administered.
A method of inducing analgesia in a patient in need thereof, without producing overt sedation, comprising administering to said patient an analgesic composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compounds of Formula II
- wherein
- R1 is H or Me;
- R2 is OH;
- R3 is H;
- or R2 and R3 taken together are O;
- R4 is H or Me;
- R5 and R6 together are O;
- R7 is H or Me;
- and
- R8 is selected from the group consisting of OH, OAc, SH, SAc, Cl, Br and F;
- or prodrugs or metabolites thereof;
- together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent;
- provided that the analgesic composition does not include alphaxolone;
- wherein said one or more compounds are administered via a route of administration such that said compound produces analgesia without producing overt sedation and without producing anesthesia.
A method of inducing analgesia in a patient in need thereof, without producing overt sedation, comprising administering to said patient an analgesic composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the Formula
- wherein
- R1 is H or Me;
- R2 is OH;
- R3 is H;
- or R2 and R3, taken together, are O;
- R4 is H or Me;
- R5 and R6, taken together, are O;
- R7 is H or Me;
- and
- R8 is selected from the group consisting of OH, OAc, SH, and SAc;
- or prodrugs or metabolites thereof;
- together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent;
- provided that the analgesic composition does not include alphaxolone;
- wherein said compound is administered via oral administration such that said compound produces analgesia without producing overt sedation.
A method of inducing analgesia in a patient in need thereof, without producing overt sedation, comprising administering to said patient an analgesic composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the Formula
- wherein
- R1 is H or Me;
- R2 is OH;
- R3 is H;
- or R2 and R3, taken together, are O;
- R4 is H or Me;
- R5 and R6, taken together, are O;
- R7 is H or Me;
- and
- R8 is selected from the group consisting of OH and OAc;
- or prodrugs or metabolites thereof;
- together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent;
- provided that the analgesic composition does not include alphaxolone;
- wherein said compound is administered via a route of administration such that said compound produces analgesia without producing overt sedation.
