Abstract
The present invention provides substantially pure integrins containing a novel β subunit designated as β6. The novel β6 subunit forms heterodimers with αV and αF. Methods of controlling cell adhesion using the β6-containing integrins are also provided.
Claims1
A method of expressing an integrin β6 subunit in a cell and selecting a cell with increased adhesion, the method comprising introducing into to cell an expression vector comprising a polynucleotide encoding SEQ ID NO:27, thereby expressing the β6 subunit in the cell, and selecting a cell with increased adhesion to fibronectin or vitronectin.
