Abstract
A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film having a skin layer made of a blend of a polar polymer and a non-polar polymer is disclosed. The film has substantially no inorganic fillers and yet shows no visible distortion after exposure to food products such as potato chips.
Claims30
A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film comprising a skin layer comprising a blend of a polar polymer and a non-polar polymer, the skin layer having a surface exposed to an environment surrounding the film and being a single layer, wherein a number average molecular weight of the polar polymer is greater than about 5,000, an amount of the polar polymer in the skin layer is in the range from about 1 to about 50 weight percent based on the total weight of the skin layer and the non-polar polymer comprises polyolefin, the film further comprising a metallized layer opposite the skin layer, wherein the non-nolar polymer comprises nolypronylene.
