Abstract
Apparatus for forming a paper or board web made from fibers in which the web is treated with calcium hydroxide and then with carbon dioxide gas so as to form calcium carbonate.
Claims5
An apparatus for making a web of paper or board containing calcium carbonate comprising:
- a means for supporting a web being formed;
- and
- a means for forming calcium carbonate at least on a surface of said web comprising means for feeding calcium hydroxide into contact with the surface of said web, and a chamber through which said web is adapted to travel and into which chamber is fed carbon dioxide containing gas so that the carbon dioxide reacts with the calcium hydroxide so as to form calcium carbonate.
