Composition and method for treating the effects of diseases and maladies

A method for treating a patient suffering from an ailment or symptom caused by an immune response, comprising the step of administering a medicinal composition to the patient, said medicinal composition consisting of a pharmaceutical composition, a plant extract composition, and a pharmaceutically acceptable base, wherein:

• the pharmaceutical composition consists of an effective amount of a pain relieving and anti-inflammatoiy pharmaceutical, alone or in combination with at least one of a pharmaceutical selected from the group consisting of a decongestant, an antihistamine, or a mixture thereof;
• and
• the plant extract composition consists of:
• (i) an effective amount of elderberry extract, in combination with
• (ii) an antioxidant extract selected from the group consisting of a garlic extract, a green tea extract, an Astragalus extract, a grapefruit seed extract, and mixtures thereof, optionally in combination with
• (iii) an extract of milk thistle;
• said pain relieving and anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical being selected from the group consisting of aspirin, acetaminophen, diclophenac, fenflofenac;
• indomethacin, sulindac, tolmetin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, fenoprofen, flurbiprofen, naproxen, meclofenamic acid, flufenamic acid, piroxicam, tenoxicam, meloxicam, celicoxib, roficoxib, and nabumetone.
