Abstract
The invention provides isolated SNAP25 nucleic acids, their encoded proteins, and a loss-of-function phenotype of the SNAP25 gene. The present invention provides methods and compositions relating to altering SNAP25 concentration and/or composition of plants. The invention further provides recombinant expression cassettes, host cells, and transgenic plants.
Claims14
An isolated nucleic acid molecule having a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- a) a polynucleotide comprising the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 or 2;
- b) a polynucleotide that encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- c) a polynucleotide having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 or 2, wherein said polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide, wherein the expression of said polypeptide in a plant results in necrotic lesions on said plant;
- and
- d) a polynucleotide comprising a sequence that is the full length complement of the sequence of a), b), or c).
A host cell having stably incorporated into its genome at least one nucleotide sequence, wherein said nucleotide sequence Is operably linked to a heterologous promoter that drives expression in the host cell, wherein said nucleotide sequence is selected from the group consisting of:
- a) a polynucleotide comprising the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 or 2;
- b) a polynucleotide that encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- c) a polynucleotide having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 or 2, wherein said polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide, wherein the expression of said polypeptide in a plant results in necrotic lesions on said plant;
- and
- d) a polynucleotide comprising a sequence that is the full length complement of the sequence of a), b), or c).
A plant having stably incorporated into its genome at least one polynucleotide, said polynucleotide operably linked to a heterologous promoter that drives expression in a plant cell, wherein said polynucleotide is selected from the group consisting of:
- a) a polynucleotide comprising the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 or 2;
- b) a polynucleotide that encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- c) a polynucleotide having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 or 2, wherein said polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide, wherein the expression of said polypeptide in a plant results in necrotic lesions on said plant;
- and
- d) a polynucleotide comprising a sequence that is the full length complement of the sequence of a), b), or c).
