Lens, manufacturing method thereof, and optical pickup

A method of manufacturing a lens including a geometrical optics portion, a first diffraction optics portion and a second diffraction optics portion, comprising the steps of:

• inserting a first material for forming the geometrical optics portion in a first die having an upper die and a lower die, the upper die and the lower die defining an inner space having a shape equivalent to the geometrical optics portion;
• press-forming the first material by applying a pressure to said first die to form said geometrical optics portion;
• pouring a second material for forming the first and the second diffraction optics portions in a second die having an upper inner surface formed into a first shape equivalent to first diffraction optics portion and having a lower inner surface formed into a second shape equivalent to the second diffraction optics portion;
• and
• rotating the second die around an optical axis of the lens to leave an amount of the second material in the second die sufficient to form the first and second diffraction optics portions on the geometrical optics portion;
• and
• placing the geometrical optics portion in contact with the upper and lower inner surfaces of the second die to join the first and the second diffraction optics portions to the geometrical optics portion.
