Abstract
A filter arrangement, for shaping a signal transmitted over POTS wiring, includes an input to receive a signal. The filter arrangement includes a signal path from the input to an output that is coupled to POTS wiring. The transmit path includes a high-pass filter, a low-pass filter, and a trap filter coupled between the high and the low-pass filter. The trap filter operationally introduces a filter zero at a resonant frequency of the high-pass filter.
Claims22
A filter arrangement for shaping a signal propagated over POTS wiring, the filter arrangement comprising:
- a first coupling to receive the signal;
- a high-pass filter;
- a low-pass filter coupled to the high-pass filter;
- a plurality of trap filters coupled to both the high-pass and low-pass filters, wherein the plurality of trap filters operationally introduces a plurality of filter zeros at a resonant frequency of the high-pass filter;
- and
- a second coupling to couple the filter arrangement to the POTS wiring.
A method of constructing a filter arrangement for shaping a signal propagated over POTS wiring, the method comprising:
- coupling a low-pass filter to a high-pass filter;
- and
- coupling a plurality of trap filters to both the high-pass and low-pass filters, wherein the the plurality of trap filters operationally introduces a plurality of filter zeros at a resonant frequency of the high-pass filter.
A method of shaping a signal for transmission over POTS wiring, the method comprising:
- receiving an input signal via an input;
- propagating the input signal through a high-pass filter, a low-pass filter, and a plurality of trap filters to generate an output signal, wherein the plurality of trap filters introduces a plurality of filter zeros into the output signal at approximately a resonant frequency of the high-pass filter;
- and
- propagating the output signal over the POTS wiring.
A network device facilitating communication over a network, the network device comprising:
- a first coupling arrangement to couple the network device to a POTS wiring network;
- a filter arrangement for shaping a signal propagated over the POTS wiring network, the filter including a high-pass filter, a low-pass filter coupled to the high-pass filter and a plurality of trap filters coupled to both the high-pass and low-pass filters, wherein the plurality of trap filters operationally introduces a plurality of filter zeros at a resonant frequency of the high-pass filter.
A method of shaping a signal received over POTS wiring, the method comprising:
- receiving an input signal via an input from the POTS wiring;
- propagating the input signal through a high-pass filter, a low-pass filter, and a plurality of trap filters to generate an output signal, wherein the plurality of trap filters introduces a plurality of filter zeros into the output signal at approximately a resonant frequency of the high-pass filter;
- and
- propagating the output signal to signal processing logic.
