Abstract
Pigmented molding compositions having good weatherability for sheet and bulk molded articles are made by mixing a resin component comprising an unsaturated polyester, a monomer which will react with the polyester and a non-aromatic, thermoplastic polymer; an ultraviolet light absorbing material and/or a hindered amine light stabilizing material; a pigment; and a reinforcing agent.
Claims20
A pigmented, weatherable molding composition comprising:
- A. a resin component which comprises an unsaturated polyester;
- a monomer which will react with the polyester;
- and a non-aromatic, thermoplastic polymer, wherein the monomer contains a mono or polyfunctional acrylate or a mono or polyfunctional methacrylate monomer;
- B. an ultraviolet light absorbing material or a hindered amine light stabilizing material;
- C. a pigment;
- and
- D. a reinforcing agent.
A process for the manufacture of a pigmented, weatherable molding composition, wherein the process comprises the steps of mixing:
- A. a resin component which comprises an unsaturated polyester;
- a monomer which will react with the polyester;
- and a non-aromatic, thermoplastic polymer, wherein the monomer contains a mono or polyfunctional acrylate or a mono or polyfunctional methacrylate monomer;
- B. an ultraviolet light absorbing material or a hindered amine light stabilizing material;
- C. a pigment;
- and
- D. a reinforcing agent.
