Abstract
A system and method are provided in which the rate of material flow to a plurality of gates can be controlled by a single controller. According to one embodiment, material is provided to first and second runners, the first runner comprising a plurality of distribution nozzles, and the flow to the first runner being controllable independently of the flow to the second runner.
Claims5
A method of injection molding comprising:
- injecting a fluid material to a manifold;
- injecting the fluid material from the manifold to a runner that leads to first and second gates;
- and controlling the rate of fluid material flow at a control point in the runner to control the rate of fluid material flow through the first and second gates based on a sensed condition of the fluid material wherein the flow rate is restricted by upstream movement of a flow control mechanism within the runner at the control point.
