Abstract
The invention provides an isolated RAD51C nucleic acid from maize. The present invention provides methods and compositions relating to altering RAD51C levels in plants. The invention further provides recombinant expression cassettes, host cells, and transgenic plants.

An isolated polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding SEQ ID NO:2;
- and
- (b) a nucleic acid sequence which is fully complementary to the nucleic acid sequence of (a).
An isolated polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) the nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO. 1;
- and
- (b) a nucleic acid sequence which is fully complementary to the nucleic acid sequence of (a).
