Nucleic acid sequences encoding splice variants of BRCA1 are provided.

An isolated nucleic acid sequence encoding human BRCA1a or BRCA1b, wherein the isolated nucleic acid sequence encoding human BRCA1a consists of bases 1-788 and 4096-5711 of human SEQ ID NO:1 and wherein the isolated nucleic acid sequence encoding BRCA1b consists of bases 1-665 and 4096-5711 of human SEQ ID NO:1.
