Abstract
The invention relates to viral particles which are released by mammal cells after the infection with human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). The invention also relates to particles whose antigenicity has been optimized by changing the HCMV using genetic engineering. The invention further relates to the use of such particles as a vaccine and a method for multiplying the HCMV in mammal cells.
Claims14
Viral particles released after infection of mammalian cells by human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), wherein
- a) the particles are surrounded by a lipid membrane in which viral glycoproteins are embedded,
- b) the particles contain neither viral DNA nor capsids,
- c) the particles contain a fusion protein comprising one or more parts of the T-cell antigen pp65 (UL83) and one or more parts of one or more proteins, which are not pp65.
Viral particles released after infection of mammalian cells by HCMV, wherein
- a) the particles are surrounded by a lipid membrane in which viral glycoproteins are embedded,
- b) the particles contain neither viral DNA nor capsids,
- c) the particles contain gB and/or gH protein antigenic fragments which are from different HCMV strains.
