Abstract
Heat transfer management/compartmentalization system for a metal hydride hydrogen storage containment unit. The hydrogen storage alloy is preferably divided into compartments having a honeycomb configuration. Heat exchanger tubing is placed through the compartments to promote heat transfer between the hydrogen storage alloy and the exterior environment.
Claims25
An apparatus for storing hydrogen storage material under pressure, said apparatus comprising:
- a pressure containment vessel defining an interior volume;
- at least one block comprising a plurality of cells having a cell wall, an open top, and an open bottom arranged in a honeycomb configuration;
- and
- at least one heat exchanger tube adapted to thermally treat said interior volume of said vessel being disposed within said block;
- said block being operatively disposed in at least a portion of the interior volume of said vessel and adapted to receive a hydrogen storage alloy therein.
