Abstract
Implosion-proof mesh tape is constructed by covering the surface of a mesh-like fabric matrix with a hot-melt adhesive and then coating it with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is thereby possible to obtain a cathode-ray tube with an implosion-proof structure wherein the surfaces of the fiber matrix directly contact with both a metal clamping band and the glass panel.
Claims8
An adhesive mesh tape for preventing implosion of cathode ray tube, comprising:
- a fabric of yarns in the form of mesh having first and second main surfaces and having open spaces between yarns;
- a hot-melt resin provided on all or a portion of the yarns of said fabric;
- and
- a pressure-sensitive adhesive provided on the surfaces of the yarns of said fabric on a side of said first main surface of said fabric;
- wherein said hot-melt resin and said pressure-sensitive adhesive do not continuously cover the entire surface of said tape and have opening above or below said open spaces of said fabric and wherein the total volume of said hot-melt resin and said pressure-sensitive adhesive is less than the volume of open spaces of said fabric.
The adhesive mesh taps according to claim 3, wherein the total volume of said hot-melt resin and said pressure-sensitive is not more than half of the volume of the open spaces of said fabric.
