Computer aided acquisition of medical images

A method for processing image data comprising:

• (a) acquiring first image data via an imaging system;
• (b) processing the first image data in accordance with a CAD algorithm, the CAD algorithm performing at least one of segmenting, identifying and classifying a feature of interest in the first image data;
• and
• (c) prescribing acquisition of at least second image data based upon results of the CAD algorithm.

An imaging system comprising:

• a memory device for storing first image data;
• and
• a computer system coupled to the memory device and configured to process the first image data in accordance with a CAD algorithm, the CAD algorithm performing at least one of segmenting, identifying and classifying a feature of interest in the first image data;
• and to prescribe acquisition of at least second image data based upon results of the CAD algorithm.

An imaging system comprising:

• means for accessing at least first image data;
• means for processing the first image data in accordance with a CAD algorithm, the CAD algorithm performing at least one of segmenting, identifying and classifying a feature of interest in the first image data;
• and
• means for prescribing acquisition of at least second image data based upon results of the CAD algorithm.

An imaging system comprising:

• mean for acquiring first image data via an imaging system;
• means for processing the first image data in accordance with a CAD algorithm, the CAD algorithm performing at least one of segmenting, identifying and classifying a feature of interest in the first image data;
• and
• means for prescribing acquisition of at least second image data based upon results of the CAD algorithm.
