Abstract
Novel organic arsonic compounds are described as tumor inhibiting, and cancer treating compounds. Methods and compositions for inhibiting tumor cells and treating cancer are also provided.

A compound of formula (I)
- where R is
- X is C or CH;
- R1 is halo, or haloalkyl;
- R2 is H, NR3R4, SR3, OR3 or a group capable of bonding with X, when X is C, to form a fused aromatic or 5- or 6-membered heteroaromatic ring, wherein R3 and R4 are each independently hydrogen or a C1-C4 alkyl group;
- or a pharmnaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
