Abstract
In summary of this disclosure, the present invention provides a method of nucleic acid, including DNA, immunization of a host, including humans, against disease caused by infection by a strain of Chlamydia, specifically C. pneumoniae, employing a vector, containing a nucleotide sequence encoding a inclusion membrane protein C of a strain of Chlamydia pneumoniae and a promoter to effect expression of the inclusion membrane protein C gene in the host. Modifications are possible within the scope of this invention.
Claims38
An expression cassette comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule placed under the control of elements required for expression of said nucleic acid molecule, said isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- and
- (b) a fragment of the sequence in (a), said fragment comprising at least 12 amino acids and being capable of inducing an immune response against Chlamydia.
A vaccine vector comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule placed under the control of elements required for expression of said isolated nucleic acid molecule, said nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- and
- (b) a fragment of the sequence in (a), said fragment comprising at least 12 amino acids and being capable of inducing an immune response against Chlamydia.
An imunogenic composition comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- and
- (b) a fragment of the sequence in (a), said fragment comprising at least 12 amino acids and being capable of inducing an immune response against Chlamydia.
