Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing a cleaning or application sponge which is characterized by foaming a sponge body in a molding tool (11, 12) to the substantially final shape of the sponge. The outer surface of the sponge body has in at least some areas a solidified skin (13) that can be at least partially removed in a subsequent process step. The sponge body may also have a closed-cell structure that is partially revealed in a subsequent process step.
Claims24
A method for the manufacture of a cleaning or application sponge, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) foaming a sponge body in a mould to a substantially final sponge shape;
- b) defining a gripping portion of the sponge during step a), said gripping portion having a closed cell structure to form one of a handle and a handle section on which a handle can be introduced;
- c) forming a hardened outer skin in partial areas of an outer surface of the sponge body during step a);
- d) opening at least portions of said outer skin following step c).
