Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for modulating fertility in an animal by administering an effective amount of IL-11 or derivatives or homologues thereof or an effective amount of an agonist or antagonist of the interaction between IL-11 and IL-11Rα.

A method for enhancing fertility in a female animal, said method comprising administering IL-11 to said animal to agonise the interaction between IL-11 and IL-11Rα, and thereby enhancing decidualization.
A method of down-modulating fertility in a female animal, said method comprising administering IL-11Rα, to antagonize the interaction between IL-11 and IL-11Rα, and to induce or facilitate defective decidualization.
