Abstract
A colloid comprises a sulfone polymer. The colloid may be used as a replacement for activated carbon or charcoal in water purification systems. Unlike activated carbon, the colloid is advantageously regenerated chemically and reused.
Claims28
A colloid comprising a sulfone polymer, wherein
- the sulfone polymer is selected from the group consisting of copolymers and homopolymers of polysulfone, polyphenylsulfone, sulfonated polysulfone, and copolymers of polyethersulfone, or mixtures thereof;
- and where
- particles of the colloid have an average diameter of 10 nm to 1000 nm.
A colloid comprising a sulfone polymer, wherein particles of said colloid have an average diameter of 50 nm to 100 nm.
A method of making a colloid comprising a sulfone polymer, comprising mixing a solution and water, to form said colloid;
- wherein said solution comprises the polymer, a solvent, and an acid.
