Abstract
A device and a method for closing a discharge aperture arranged in the base of a container is provided and includes a sealing cover arranged on a pivoting arm via a carrying arm. A mechanism for regulating the positioning of the sealing cover in relation to the discharge aperture is provided, so that the lifting movement of the cover, when entering into the discharge aperture, takes place substantially translatory and substantially parallel to a central axis of the sealing cover, by means of the sealing device. The device is simple to construct and install, yet provides good pressure or vacuum even in long-term use.
Claims28
A sealing device comprising:
- a container defining a discharge aperture therein;
- a sealing cover configured to at least partially fit within said discharge aperture, said cover arranged on a pivoting arm via carrying arm, said cover connected to said carrying arm such that said cover is moveable about at least one tipping axis with respect to said carrying arm;
- and
- a mechanism that regulates the position of said cover in relation to said discharge aperture such that lifting movement of said cover is substantially translational when entering into said discharge aperture, said translational movement taking place substantially parallel to the central axis of said cover.
A method for operating a sealing device for sealing a discharge aperture arranged in the base of a container, said method comprising the steps of:
- configuring a sealing device to include:
- a container defining a discharge aperture therein;
- a sealing cover configured to at least partially fit within said discharge aperture, said cover arranged on a pivoting arm via carrying arm, said cover connected to said carrying arm such that said cover is moveable about at least one tipping axis with respect to said carrying arm;
- and
- a mechanism that regulates the position of said cover in relation to said discharge aperture such that lifting movement of said cover is substantially translational when entering into said discharge aperture, said translational movement taking place substantially parallel to the central axis of said cover;
- moving said cover about said at least one tipping axis with respect to said carrying arm;
- and
- controlling the lifting movement of said cover during entry into said discharge aperture such that movement of said cover is substantially translational and substantially parallel to a central axis of said sealing cover.
