Abstract
A memory card connected to a host system includes a command detection section for detecting an identification code transmission request command which is input from the host system and an identification code control section for outputting to the host system, in response to a detection signal output from the command detection section, a predetermined identification code which indicates compatibility of the memory card with the host system.

A memory card connected to a host system, comprising:
- a command detection section for detecting an identification code transmission request command which is input from the host system;
- an identification code control section for outputting to the host system, in response to a detection signal output from the command detection section, a predetermined identification code which indicates compatibility of the memory card with the host system,
- a component memory section for storing a device ID;
- and
- an output conversion section for outputting, in response to the detection signal output from the command detection section, an output prohibition signal which prohibits the component memory section from outputting data.
