Abstract
An object of the present invention is to provide a magnetic recording medium exhibiting excellent noise characteristics. On a substrate, an undercoat film is formed, and a perpendicular magnetic film, in which most of the easy-magnetization axes are oriented vertically with respect to the substrate, is formed on the undercoat film. A rocking curve 21 obtained through θ-2 θ scanning employing X-ray diffraction in relation to the magnetic film has a plurality of local maximum points 22 and 23.
Claims6
A magnetic recording medium comprising a (1) substrate;
- (2) an undercoat film;
- and (3) a perpendicular magnetic film in which most of the easy-magnetization axes are oriented vertically with respect to the substrate in order, wherein a rocking curve being obtained through θ-2θ scanning employing X-ray diffraction in relation to the magnetic film has a plurality of local maximum points.
A process for producing a magnetic recording medium, comprising successively forming on a substrate an undercoat film and a perpendicular magnetic film in which most of the easy-magnetization axes are oriented vertically with respect to the substrate so that a rocking curve obtained through θ-2θ scanning employing X-ray diffraction has a plurality of local maximum points.
