Method for the treatment of increased urinary urgency or urinary incontinence comprising administering (+)-tramadol, O-demethyltramadol, (+)-O-demethyltramadol, O-desmethyl-N-mono-desmethyltramadol, or (+)-O-desmethyl-N-mono-desmethyltramadol, as free bases and/or in the form of physiologically compatible salts, are disclosed.

A method for the treatment of increased urinary urgency or urinary incontinence, the method comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of (+)-tramadol, O-demethyltramadol, O-desmethyl-N-mono-desmethyltramadol, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and an enantiomer or diastereamer of O-demethyltramadol or O-desmethyl-N-mono-desmethyltramadol.
