Abstract
An antisoiling hardcoated film comprising a substantially transparent substrate, a hardcoat layer comprising inorganic oxide particles dispersed in a binder matrix, and an antisoiling layer comprising a perfluoropolyether. The antisoiling layer can be very thin, thus reducing the cost of the perfluoropolyether. The film has very good scratch, smudge and glare resistance and very good interlayer adhesion and durability. The film can be in the form of a single flexible substrate or a stack of such substrates. The film or stack can be sized to fit the display screen of an electronic display device such as a personal digital assistant or cell phone.
Claims20
A display element comprising a substantially transparent substrate, a hardcoat layer comprising inorganic oxide particles dispersed in a binder matrix, and an antisoiling layer comprising a perfluoropolyether atop the hardcoat, the display element having
- a) an ink repellency rating of at least 2 on a 6 point scale in which 0 corresponds to completely wettable, 2 corresponds to intermittently wettable and 6 corresponds to completely unwettable,
- b) at least a 2 rub cycle cheesecloth durability rating and
- c) at least a 7 rub cycle steel wool durability rating.
A screen protector for an information display, comprising a flexible substantially transparent generally planar substrate having on one side thereof an adhesive layer and having on the other side thereof a hardcoat layer comprising inorganic oxide particles dispersed in a binder matrix and an antisoiling layer comprising a perfluoropolyether atop the hardcoat, the screen protector having
Screen protectors for a portable electronic device having a display screen, comprising a stack of flexible substantially transparent sheets, the sheets having on one side thereof an adhesive layer and having on the other side thereof a hardcoat layer comprising inorganic oxide particles dispersed in a binder matrix and an antisoiling layer comprising a perfluoropolyether atop the hardcoat, the stack being cut so that the sheets will fit the display screen.
An antisoiling hardcoated film, comprising a flexible generally planar substrate having on at least one side thereof a hardcoat layer comprising inorganic oxide particles dispersed in a binder matrix and an antisoiling layer comprising a perfluoropolyether atop the hardcoat.
