The present invention is to methods of obtaining plant-derived compositions that inhibit apoptosis, the compositions obtained thereby, compositions comprising the composition, and methods of use thereof.

A method of preventing apoptosis in cultured cells comprising treating cells with a composition comprising an effective amount of at least one phytogenic apoptosis inhibitor and a tissue culture media.
