Abstract
The present invention provides a process for the preparation of lithium metaphosphate comprising reacting a lithium source and a phosphorous source in solid state to obtain lithium metaphosphate.

A process for the preparation of lithium metaphosphate comprising reacting a lithium source and a phosphorous source in a ratio of 1:1-2 in solid state at a temperature in the range of 300 to 650° C. to obtain the desired lithium metaphosphate.
