Abstract
A process for the vapor phase preparation of vinyl acetate in the presence of a catalyst of 0.2 to 1.3% by weight of gold or a gold compound, 0.3 to 10% by weight of an alkali metal compound, 0.5 to 2.0% by weight of a palladium compound and 0.01 to 1% by weight of a lanthanoid compound.
Claims4
In a process for the preparation of vinyl acetate by the vapor phase reaction of ethylene, acetic acid and oxygen or an oxygen containing gas in the presence of a catalyst, the improvement comprising using as the catalyst, a catalyst comprising 0.2 to 1.3% by weight of gold or a gold compound calculated as gold metal, 0.3 to 10% by weight of an alkali metal compound calculated as alkali metal, 0.5 to 2.0% by weight of palladium or palladium compound calculated as palladium metal and 0.01 to 1% by weight of a lanthanoid compound or metal calculated as lanthanoid metal on a carrier.
