Abstract
Antifoams and/or deaerators are based on oil-in-water emulsions which contain, in the hydrophobic oil phase, at least one compound effective as an antifoam and/or deaerator and, if required, further components, the oil-in-water emulsions containing from 0.01 to 3% by weight of a water-soluble, amphiphilic copolymer having acid groups or of a water-soluble salt thereof as a stabilizer.
Claims13
An antifoam and/or deaerator based on an oil-in-water dispersion which contains, in the hydrophobic oil phase, at least one compound effective as an antifoam and/or deaerator, wherein the oil-in-water dispersion contains from 0.01 to 3% by weight of a water-soluble, amphiphilic copolymer having acid groups or of a water-soluble salt thereof as a stabilizer, wherein the molar mass of the amphiphilic copolymers is from 1000 to 100,000.
A method of stabilizing antifoams and/or deaerators based on oil-in-water dispersions comprising:
- mixing at least one compound effective as an antifoam and/or deaerator in the hydrophobic oil phase, and
- adding to the oil-in-water dispersion from 0.01 to 3% by weight of a water-soluble, amphiphilic copolymer having acid groups or of a water-soluble salt thereof as a stabilizer, wherein the molar mass of the amphiphilic copolymers is from 1000 to 100,000.
