Abstract
Methods and compositions for inhibiting the polymerization of vinyl monomers are disclosed. Combinations of aminophenol compounds and nitroxyl radical compounds are effective at inhibiting vinyl monomer polymerization under both processing and storage conditions.
Claims13
A method for inhibiting the polymerization of vinyl monomers comprising adding to vinyl monomers an effective inhibiting amount of a composition comprising a combination of:
- (A) at least one aminophenol compound of the formula:
- wherein R1 and R2 are selected from hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl or aryl, and OR′,
- wherein R′ is selected from hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl, phenyl, and
- (B) a nitroxyl radical compound.
