Abstract
Compounds are provided that inhibit the interaction of an IGF with any one of its binding proteins and not to a human IGF receptor. These IGF agonist compounds, which includes peptides, are useful to increase serum and tissue levels of active IGFs in a mammal.
Claims5
A method for increasing serum and tissue levels of biologically active IGF-I in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal an effective amount of a peptide comprising an amino acid sequence that is SEQ ID NO:
- 88, 96, 97, 98, 99, or 100.
A method of reducing plasma insulin secretion and blood glucose levels in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal an effective amount of a peptide comprising an amino acid sequence that is SEQ ID NO:
- 88, 96, 97, 98, 99, or 100.
