Abstract
This invention provides novel compounds that are effective as inhibitors of caspase and cellular apoptosis. The invention also provides methods for using the compounds to treat caspase-mediated diseases in mammals. The compounds have the general formula I: wherein X is F or Cl; R1 is COOH, COO(alkyl), or an isostere thereof; and R2 is an aryl group.
Claims14
A compound of formula I:
- wherein X is F or Cl;
- R1 is COOH, COO(alkyl), or an isostere thereof;
- and
- R2 is an aryl group.

- wherein X is F or Cl;
- R1 is COOH, COO(alkyl), or an isostere thereof;
- and
- R2 is an aryl group.
A method for treating complications associated with coronary artery bypass grafts or a method of immunotherapy for the treatment of cancer in a mammalian patient in need of such treatment comprising the step of administering to said patient an effective amount of a compound of formula I:
- wherein X is F or Cl;
