Abstract
Described is the use of nanoscale metal oxide particles as catalysts for the thermal and/or photochemical polymerization of species having at least one polymerizable carbon-carbon multiple bond and/or at least one carbon containing ring capable of undergoing a ring opening polymerization.
Claims42
A process for the thermal and/or photochemical polymerization or crosslinking of at least one compound containing at least one polymerizable carbon-carbon multiple bond, comprising polymerizing or crosslinking the at least one compound in the presence of a catalyst consisting of nanoscale particles of at least one metal oxide or mixed metal oxide of metals selected from the group consisting of metals of main groups IIIa and IVa and subgroup Ib of the Periodic Table of Elements and Zr.
A process for the thermal and/or photochemical polymerization or crosslinking of at least one compound having at least one carbon-containing ring capable of undergoing a ring-opening polymerization, comprising polymerizing or crosslinking the at least one compound in the presence of a catalyst comprising nanoscale particles of at least one metal oxide or mixed metal oxide.
