Abstract
This invention is directed to a method and apparatus for controlling and optimizing the feed of two or more oxidizers to an aqueous stream, thereby providing a synergistic effect. The system combines the use of amperometric or ORP based sensor technology with amperometric sensor technology employing a gas permeable membrane, thereby providing definitive control of each oxidizer feed stream.

A system for determining and adjusting individual concentration levels of multiple oxidizer compositions comprising:
- at least one oxidation reduction potential (ORP) sensor;
- at least one amperometric sensor;
- and
- a controller in communication with each of said sensors;
- wherein at least one of said amperometric sensors comprises a gas permeable membrane, and
- whereby said controller comprises and algorithm that can individually adjust concentration levels of said mutiple oxidizer compositions based on a measurement of the at least one ORP sensor and a measurement of the at least one amperometric sensor.
A system for advanced oxidation technological control of an electrolyte containing fluid in a multiple oxidizer environment comprising:
- a first oxidizer source disposed for addition of a first oxidizer into the electrolyte;
- a second oxidizer source disposed for addition of a second oxidizer into the electrolyte;
- a first amperometric sensor disposed in the electrolyte;
- a second amperometric sensor disposed and isolated from said electrolyte containing fluid by a gas permeable membrane;
- and
- a controller in communication with each of said sensors comprising an algorithm controlling addition of the first oxidizer based an a measurement of the first amperometric sensor and addition of the second oxidizer based on a measurement of the second amperometric sensor.
A water treatment system comprising:
- a first oxidizer source disposed to introduce a first oxidizer to water in the water treatment system;
- a second oxidizer source disposed to introduce a second oxidizer to the water;
- an amperometric sensor having a gas permeable membrane and disposed to measure a first oxidizer concentration in the water;
- an ORP sensor disposed to measure an ORP of the water;
- and
- a controller in communication with the amperometric and ORP sensors and the first oxidizer and second oxidizer sources,
- wherein the controller regulates addition of the second oxidizer according to a demand determined when a concentration of the first oxidizer needed to achieve a target ORP increases.
A water treatment system comprising:
- a first oxidizer source disposed to introduce a first oxidizer to water in the water treatment system;
- a second oxidizer source disposed to introduce a second oxidizer to the water;
- a first amperometric sensor disposed to measure a first oxidizer concentration in the water;
- a second amperometric sensor, comprising a gas permeable membrane, disposed to measure a second oxidizer concentration in the water;
- and
- a controller in communication with the first and second amperometric sensors and the first and second oxidizer sources,
- wherein the controller regulates addition of the second oxidizer according to a demand determined when a concentration of the first oxidizer needed to achieve a target first oxidizer concentration increases.
