Abstract
Ternary pigment compositions of compounds of formulae (I), (II) and (III) obtainable by reaction of succinic acid diesters with from 90 to 15 mol % 4-methylbenzonitrile and from 10 to 85 mol % 3-methylbenzonitrile, the molar amounts of the benzonitriles totalling 100 mol %, a process for the preparation thereof, and the use thereof for pigmenting organic material.

A process for the preparation of a pigment composition comprising reacting a succinic acid diester with 4-methylbenzonitrile and 3-methylbenzonitrile in an organic solvent, in the presence of a base, at a temperature range from 60 to 140° C., using the benzonitriles in a molar ratio of from 45 to 25 mol % 4-methylbenzonitrile to from 55 to 75 mol % 3-methylbenzonitrile.
