Abstract
A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates, a plurality of gate bus lines and data bus lines on the first substrate, the gate bus lines being perpendicular to the data bus lines, a plurality of pixels defined by the gate bus lines and the data bus lines, the pixels having a plurality of regions, at least a pair of electrodes in each region having a common direction, and a plurality of liquid crystal molecules between the substrate.
Claims6
A liquid crystal display device, comprising:
- first and second substrates;
- a plurality of gate bus lines and data bus lines on the first substrate, the gate bus lines being perpendicular to the data bus lines;
- a plurality of pixels defined by the gate bus lines and the data bus lines;
- a plurality of common bus lines, each common bus line substantially bisecting a respective one of the pixels to form first and second pixel regions in each of said pixels;
- a plurality of first pairs of parallel electrodes in the first pixel region;
- and
- a plurality of second pairs of electrodes in the second pixel region;
- wherein at least one of the first pairs of parallel electrodes is not perpendicular to the gate bus lines and the data bus lines.

A liquid crystal display device, comprising:
- first and second substrates;
- a plurality of gate bus lines and data bus lines on the first substrate, the gate bus lines and the data bus lines being arranged to form a matrix of pixels;
- a common bus line formed in each pixel such that each pixel is divided into at least a first region and a second region, the common bus line being parallel to the gate bus lines;
- at least a pair of electrodes in each of said first and second regions, wherein the electrodes are formed to have an angle θEL1 in the first region and an angle θEL2 in the second region, with respect to the common bus line, and such that the electrodes in each of said first and second regions are parallel to each other and are not parallel to the gate bus lines and the data bus lines;
- and
- a plurality of liquid crystal molecules between the first and second substrates.
