Electron-emitting device, electron source and image-forming apparatus as well as method of manufacturing the same

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• first and second electrodes arranged on a surface of a substrate;
• an electroconductive thin film arranged on the surface as connecting said first and second electrodes, said electroconductive thin film including a first gap;
• and
• first and second carbon films arranged on the surface as opposed to each other in the gap, said carbon films being electrically connected to said electroconductive thin film,
• wherein the surface includes a groove between the first carbon film and the second carbon film.

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• a carbon film;
• a first electrode electrically connected to said carbon film and adapted for supplying a first electric potential to said carbon film;
• and
• a second electrode to which a second electric potential higher than the first electric potential is applied in order to emit electrons from said carbon film,
• wherein said carbon film has a crystal structure comprising a hollow crystal lattice of closed ring structure which is surrounded by a plurality of crystal lattices of closed ring structure.

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• a carbon film;
• and
• a first electrode electrically connected to said carbon film and adapted for supplying electrons in order to emit electrons from said carbon film,
• wherein said carbon film has a crystal structure comprising a hollow crystal lattice of closed ring structure which is surrounded by a plurality of crystal lattices of closed ring structure.

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• a carbon film;
• a first electrode electronically connected to said carbon film and adapted for supplying a first electric potential to said carbon film;
• and
• a second electrode to which a second electric potential higher than the first electric potential is applied in order to emit electrons from said carbon film,
• wherein said carbon film comprises a crystal lattice of closed ring structure.

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• a carbon film comprising graphite crystals;
• a first electrode electrically connected to said carbon film and adapted for supplying a first electric potential to said carbon film;
• and
• a second electrode to which a second electric potential higher than the first electric potential is applied in order to emit electrons from said carbon film,
• wherein said carbon film comprises capsule-like crystals.

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• a carbon film comprising capsule-like graphite crystals;
• a first electrode electrically connected to said carbon film and adapted for supplying a first electric potential to said carbon film;
• and
• a second electrode to which a second electric potential higher than the first electric potential is applied in order to emit electrons from said carbon film.

An electron-emitting device comprising:

• a carbon film comprising capsule-like crystals;
• a first electrode electrically connected to said carbon film and adapted for supplying a first electric potential to said carbon film;
• and
• a second electrode to which a second electric potential higher than the first electric potential is applied in order to emit electrons from said carbon film,
• wherein said capsule-like crystals comprise therein Pd particles.
