The invention relates to a pentopyranosylnucleoside of the formula (I) or of the formula (II) their preparation and use for the production of a therapeutic, diagnostic and/or electronic component.

A conjugate according to structures (I) or (II),
- wherein A is selected from the group consisting of DNA, RNA, peptide, protein, antibody, and functional antibody fragment;
- wherein 1 is an integer from 0-20, m is an integer from 0-20, and n is an integer from 1-20, with the proviso that 1+m is less than or equal to 20;
- wherein B is selected from the group consisting of 9-adeninyl, 9-guaninyl, 1-thyminyl, 1-cytosinyl, 1-uracilyl, and 1-indolyl;
- and
- wherein the structure (I) or (II) is hybridized to a complementary pyranosyl structure.
