Master information carrier, method for producing the carrier, method and apparatus for writing information into magnetic record medium using the carrier

A master information carrier for writing an information signal into a magnetic record medium, comprising:

• a substrate of a disk shape;
• first areas provided on the substrate where an embossed pattern composed of a ferromagnetic film and corresponding to the information signal is formed on the surface of the substrate;
• and
• second areas provided on the substrate where the embossed pattern is not formed,
• wherein each of the first areas and the second areas disposed alternately with predetermined angular intervals in the circumferential direction of the substrate, and at least a part of each of the second areas has a surface height lower than that of each the first areas.

A master information carrier for writing an information signal into a magnetic record medium, comprising:

• a substrate of a disk shape;
• first areas provided on the substrate where an embossed pattern composed of a ferromagnetic film and corresponding to the information signal is formed on the surface of the substrate;
• and
• second areas provided on the substrate where the embossed pattern is not formed,
• wherein each of the first areas and the second areas disposed alternately with predetermined angular intervals in the circumferential direction of the substrate, and a plurality of through holes are formed at least partially in each of the second areas.
