Abstract
A novel process for the production of an improved amorphous form of cefpodoxime proxetil [(6R-[6α,7β(Z))]-7-{E(2-Amino-4-thiazolyl)(methoxyimino)acetyl]amino]-3-(methoxymethyl)-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid-1-[[(1-methylethoxy)carboxylic acid-1-[[(1-methylethoxy)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester, is described.

Cefpodoxime proxetil in an amorphous form which is prepared by a process that comprises preparing a solution of cefpodoxime proxetil in a suitable solvent and recovering an amorphous form of cefpodoxime proxetil from the solution by spray drying.
A process for the preparation of amorphous cefpodoxime proxetil that comprises preparing a solution of cefpodoxime proxetil in a suitable solvent and recovering amorphous form of cefpodoxime proxetil from said solution by spray drying.
