Abstract
The present invention demonstrates that p38MAPK inhibitor induces low density lipoprotein receptor expression 6-8 fold, and further provides the application of such inhibitor in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia.
Claims5
A method of inducing low density lipoprotein receptor expression in a cell consisting essentially of the step of:
- administering a compound selected from the group consisting of the pyridinylimidazole compounds (4-(4-Fluorophenyl)2-(4-methylsulfinylphenyl)-5-(4-pyridyl)1H-imidazole) and (4-(4-Fluorophenyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-(4-pyridyl) 1H-imidazole), wherein said compound activates mitogen-activated protein kinase p42/44MAPK by inhibiting the mitogen-activated protein kinase p38MAPK.
A method of treating an individual having hypercholesterolemia, consisting essentially of the step of:
- administering a compound selected from the group consisting of the pyridinylimidazole compounds (4-(4-Fluorophenyl)2-(4-methylsulfinylphenyl)-5-(4-pyridyl)1H-imidazole) and (4-(4-Fluorophenyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-(4-pyridyl)1H-imidazole), wherein said compound activates mitogen-activated protein kinase p42/44MAPK by inhibiting the mitogen-activated protein kinase p38MAPK.
