A formed activated carbon has a Kiya crushing strength of 1 kg or more and a specific heat of 0.4 J/K·cc or more at 25° C.

A formed activated carbon, comprising:
- a heat accumulating solid filler;
- and
- a clay;
- wherein said formed activated carbon has a Kiya crushing strength of 1 kg or more and a specific heat of 0.4 J/K·cc or more at 25° C.

A formed activated carbon obtained by a process comprising:
- kneading 100 parts by weight of an activated carbon powder with
- (A) 10 to 100 parts by weight of clay,
- (B) 5 to 200 parts by weight of a metal powder, a metal oxide powder or a mixture thereof, and
- (C) 2 to 20 parts by weight of a boron compound, a phosphorus compound or a mixture thereof;
- to prepare a plastic body;
- forming said plastic body to prepare a green body;
- and
- firing said green body;
- wherein each amount of (A), (B) and (C) is based on 100 parts by weight of activated carbon.

A process for producing a formed activated carbon, which comprises:
- kneading 100 parts by weight of an activated carbon powder with
- (A) 10 to 100 parts by weight of clay,
- (B) 5 to 200 parts by weight of a metal powder, a metal oxide powder or a mixture thereof, and
- (C) 2 to 20 parts by weight of a boron compound, a phosphorus compound or a mixture thereof,
- to prepare a plastic body;
- forming the resulting plastic body to prepare a green body;
- and
- firing the green body;
- wherein each amount of (A), (B) and (C) is based on 100 parts by weight of activated carbon.
