Claims17
An electroluminescent article for generating light upon application of an electrical potential across two electrodes, said article comprising:
- an anode;
- a plurality of molecular conductive layers, one of said layers coupled to said anode with silicon-oxygen bonds and said conductive layers coupled one to another with silicon-oxygen bonds;
- a cathode in electrical contact with said conductive layers;
- and
- a molecular charge control layer coupled with silicon-oxygen bonds to one of said electrodes or said conductive layers, said control layer having a predetermined spatial distribution of molecular components.
An organic electroluminescent article for controlled light emission upon application of an electrical potential across two electrodes, said article comprising a conductive layer, an electrode having a surface portion in electrical contact with said conductive layer, and a patterned molecular layer having a spatial distribution of molecular components coupled to one of said electrodes or said conductive layer.
