Abstract
A method of preparing an article using an electrostatic dissipative composition prepared by combining a conductive polymer, and a crosslinking agent to form a fluidized dispersion, and providing the fluidized dispersion with a pH of about 7 to 9.
Claims37
A method of forming an article, the method comprising:
- adding a conductive polymer to a vessel;
- adding a crosslinkable polymer to a vessel;
- adding a crosslinking agent to the vessel;
- blending the conductive polymer, the crosslinkable polymer, water, and the crosslinking agent together to form a dispersion, each component of the dispersion, other than water, having a vapor pressure of about 400 mm Hg, or less, at a temperature of about 72° F.;
- applying a coating of the dispersion onto a substrate;
- and
- drying and curing the coating of the dispersion wherein:
- the dried and cured coating of the dispersion, when having a thickness of about 2.5 microns, is capable of permitting at least 95% transmission of visible light with a wavelength ranging from about 410 nanometers to about 700 nanometers;
- the surface resistivity of the dried and cured coating of the dispersion increases by about 9.5×104 ohms/square, or less, after storage of the dried and cured coating of the dispersion for at least about 30 days in a humidity chamber at a temperature of about 25° C. and a relative humidity of about 80%, as compared to the surface resistivity of the dried and cured coating of the dispersion prior to placement in the humidity chamber;
- and
- the surface resistivity of the dried and cured coating of the dispersion increases by about 4.8×105 ohms/square, or less, after storage of the dried and cured coating of the dispersion for at least about 30 days in a humidity of about 80%, as at a temperature of about 100° C. and a relative humidity of about 35%, as compared to the surface resistivity of the dried and cured coating of the dispersion prior to placement in the humidity chamber.
