Abstract
A service message, including a device application identifier and a bearer service indicator, is generated and sent to a wireless communications device. As a result, data can be transmitted between a server and a wireless device over a selected bearer service.
Claims22
A method for transmitting data to a wireless communications device over a selected bearer service, comprising:
- generating a service message, the service message including
- a device application identifier, and
- a bearer service indicator, wherein the bearer service indicator includes identities of at least two usable bearer services, wherein one of the at least two usable bearer services is a minimum usable bearer service for the identified device application;
- and
- sending the service message to the wireless communications device.
An apparatus for transmitting data to a wireless communications device over a selected bearer service, comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory, coupled to said processor, for storing a plurality of instructions adapted for execution by said processor to:
- generate a service message, the service message including
- a device application identifier, and
- a bearer service indicator, wherein the bearer service indicator includes identities of at least two usable bearer services, wherein one of the at least two usable bearer services is a minimum usable bearer service for the identified device application;
- and
- send the service message to the wireless communications device.
A medium storing a plurality of instructions adapted for execution by a processor for transmitting data to a wireless communications device over a selected bearer service, said plurality of instructions comprising instructions to:
- generate a service message, the service message including
- a device application identifier, and
- a bearer service indicator, wherein the bearer service indicator includes identities of at least two usable bearer services, wherein one of the at least two usable bearer services is a minimum usable bearer service for the identified device application;
- and
- send the service message to the wireless communications device.
A medium storing a plurality of instructions adapted for execution by a processor for receiving data on a wireless communications device over a selected bearer service, said plurality of instructions comprising instructions to:
- receive a service message including
- a device application identifier, and
- a bearer service indicator, wherein the bearer service indicator includes identities of at least two usable bearer services, wherein one of the at least two usable bearer services is a minimum usable bearer service for the identified device application;
- and
- store the bearer service indicator in the wireless communications device.
