Abstract
The present invention discloses a system and method for accurately displaying superimposed images on a display screen of a computer. The method includes storing a base image having a first feature and a second feature in a storage device of a computer. Data is received which is indicative of a full-scale dimension between the first feature and the second feature. The base image is scaled to have a predefined dimension between the first feature and the second feature when displayed. An accessory image is scaled based upon at least a ratio between the predefined dimension and the full-scale dimension. The scaled accessory image is superimposed onto the scaled base image and displayed to a system user.
Claims56
A method for accurately displaying superimposed images, comprising:
- a) storing a base image having a first feature and a second feature in a storage device of a computer;
- b) receiving measurement data, entered into the computer by a user, indicative of a full-scale dimension between the first feature and the second feature;
- c) scaling the base image to have a predefined dimension between the first feature and the second feature when displayed;
- d) scaling an accessory image based upon at least a ratio between the predefined dimension and the full-scale dimension;
- and
- e) superimposing the scaled accessory image onto the scaled base image.
A computer system for accurately displaying superimposed images, comprising:

- a) store data in the storage device identifying
- a base image, and
- an accessory image;
- b) locate a first feature and a second feature in the base image;
- c) receive measurement data, entered into the computer system by a user, indicative of a full-scale dimension between the first feature and the second feature;
- d) scale the base image to have a predefined dimension between the first feature and the second feature when displayed;
- e) scale the accessory image based upon at least a ratio between the predefined dimension and the full-scale dimension;
- and
- f) superimpose the scaled accessory image onto the scaled base image.
A computer-readable storage device encoded with:
- files that describe
- a base image, and
- an accessory image;
- and
- processing instructions directing a computer to
- a) locate a first feature and a second feature in the base image;
- b) receive measurement data, entered into the computer by a user, indicative of a full-scale dimension between the first feature and the second feature;
- c) scale the base image to have a predefined dimension between the first feature and the second feature when displayed;
- d) scale the accessory image based upon at least a ratio between the predefined dimension and the full-scale dimension;
- and
- e) superimpose the scaled accessory image onto the scaled base image.
A method of displaying a base image and a superimposed accessory image comprising:
- receiving data indicative of the base image in a computer, wherein the base image contains a first feature and a second feature;
- receiving measurement data, entered into the computer by a user, indicative of a full-scale dimension between the first feature and the second feature;

- scaling the accessory image based upon a ratio between the predefined dimension and the full-scale dimension;
- superimposing the scaled accessory image onto the scaled base image;
- and
- displaying said superimposed image.
A computer system for processing the accurate display of superimposed images, comprising:
- a memory device storing a program;
- a processor in communication with said memory;
- said processor operative with said program to:
- receive data indicative of a base image, wherein the base image contains a first feature and a second feature;
- receive measurement data, entered into the computer system by a user, indicative of a full scale dimension between the first feature and the second feature;
- scale the base image to have a predefined dimension between the first feature and the second feature;
- receive data indicative of an accessory image;
- scale the accessory image based upon a ratio between the predefined dimension and the full scale dimension;
- superimpose the scaled accessory image onto the scaled base image;
- and
- display said superimposed image.
A computer system for accurately displaying superimposed images comprising:
- means for receiving data indicated of a base image having a first feature and a second feature;
