The liquid crystal display device of the present invention comprises first and second substrates, a first alignment layer on the first substrate, wherein the first alignment layer includes polyethyleneimine, and a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates.

A liquid crystal display device comprising:
- first and second substrates;
- a first alignment layer on the first substrate;
- a second alignment layer on the second substrate;
- and
- a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates,
- wherein the first alignment layer includes polyethyleneimine, wherein the first alignment layer includes photo-sensitive constituents.
